What we’ve found is that while there are practical ways ChatGPT can be used to support and streamline the content writing process, there are also some flaws to watch out for when you’re using it. However, the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) and the automation of many cognitive tasks demand a different kind of education because thinking in the workplace is changing. The content alone of education cannot sustain a person because knowledge has a shortened shelf life – in some areas being relevant for only a few years. After having trained millions of teachers to move their courses online and deliver them via zoom, and altering billions of assessments, most institutions have put all the old ways of doing things back in place. ChatGPT is not truly ‘intelligent’ in that it doesn’t actually understand the meanings behind weddings or holidays. An AI that’s as intellectually capable as an animal or human would be known as an artificial general intelligence. With this sophisticated pattern recognition in place, ChatGPT can then – when prompted – recombine what it has learned from its LLM in new sentences and paragraphs. This combination of transforming information that it has previously been trained on is what the ‘GPT’ in ChatGPT stands for – Generative Pre-trained Transformer.
